Teething, not eating or drinking

9mo dd getting 3 top teeth through at once, had a cold last week. Refused boob today, have managed to get about 8oz formula/water into her in the last 24 hrs, but she's taken no food except for a couple of tsp of yoghurt. She screams in pain whenever I try giving her a sippy cup, doidy or bottle, or try and spoon feed her. Have been giving calpol, Teetha granules and bonjela when she lets me.

Sorry, posted too early, frazzled. Please help! Any way of getting food/drink into her?

Get some baby nurofen in. It's anti-inflammatory which might help, plus you can give it with calpol as it's ibuprofen and calpol is paracetamol. it's horrible but will pass soon enough. No point them being in pain if they don't have to be.

Also, have you tried a teething ring, cooled in the fridge?

Good luck Smile

is the water cold from the fridge? that might help to cool her gums. a few days of not eating won't harm her if she's feeling crap because of her teeth. Just keep her fluids up. x

Thanks, will go get nurofen too and keep plugging away at liquids

My dd is teething with her top two at the moment...hell isn't it!

She seems to prefer something scratchy to chew on, like rice cakes or toast. I can then sneak the puree in in between bites. I guess the harder foods provide similar comfort to a teether.

Good luck
