Conjuntivitis seems to be getting worse

Hi, I feel really lame writing this but wondered if anyone can give advice?

My 3yo son ia under the weather, runny nose, slight fever, off food etc. He's got conjunctivitis, yesterday (started Tuesday afternoon, got doctors appt for yesterday) the doctor gave him eye drops, to be given four times a day, so he's had five lots since then. His eyes are definitely getting worse, now sounds really stupid but how long should it take before getting better?

I know I sound ridiculous I feel I should be able to judge myself, however I've just come out of hospital after having a small bleed on the brain and am still on quite high painkillers, and I'm not thinking straight so hence I'm asking ifykwim, my husband hasn't seen conjunctivitis before so no good there.

His eyes, one in particular is do swollen now and it's really hard to tell but looks as though a little blood is there when I cleaned it just now. I could get an appointment for tomorrow.

Anyone any experience, thanks so much.

If the conjunctivitis is viral the drops may not help. But if it's getting worse not better I would pop him back for a review, he could be having a reaction to the drops or something else causing it. Cool compresses/paracetamol for the discomfort.
