High platelet count

My DD 4yrs was admitted into hospital with stomach pains and a high temp. Had a crp count over 700 and spent a week at hosp, 4 days IVanti box, 6 days oral. Chest and kidney x-ray, stomach scan all clear. Left hospital after a week non the wiser. Doctor requested a blood test a week later which showed crp levels normal but Platelets risen to 850, less production of urine, stomach smasps and tiredness. Told to go home and go back after two weeks to re do bloods. Its only been 5 days since the last test but she still has the stomach ache, tiredness, not many wee's etc. I really don't know if to wait for the two weeks? She cheerful inbetween. Was sent home from school yesterday but managed a whole day today. Does anyone have any idea what i should do?

Thanks

Platelets can go up in inflammation/infection and often take a while to come back down to normal so it may be nothing to worry about per se

However if he is unwell and not weeing take him back tomorrow. No gp should ever be cross with you for taking a child in and I think it's always better to err in the safe side

ON the safe side.

You can call the ward and ask for advice mentioning the fact he's not weeing much and his high platelets and they will prob see you again. If they won't get a same day appt with GP. Good luck

Thanks Staverton.
I took her to our GP. Temp and urine were fine, tummy not tender. So said were just to wait till next lots of bloods. She said it was probably the tail end of the infection. You worry so much and have awful thought about whatit might be! Feel a little less jumpy not. Just hope next lot of bloods are ok. Thanks again.
