Hello Mums,
The story that I will share with you was happened on 26-10-2011 at my GP.
My DS was not feeling well nearly couple of days.DS has lots of dribble , he was in pain and crying with pain, wasnt itself at all waking up in the middle of the night with screeming and non stop uncontrolable cry. After a day ds started to refuse the bottle and stop taking any milk at all. 19 week old baby couldnt suck the teet of the bottle and having difficulties swallowing the milk. I thought this is the teething symptoms. But every day it gets worse DS started to give 10 hours gap between milk times and only drinks 80-120 ml barely. No temp,no diarrhea.26th of Oct was the 3rd day without eathing properly.I could see that the movements and sleepy mode was increasing.I got really scared, ds could not swallow nothing and crying with pain.then I thought this cant be teething it is something else.I got suspicious from sore throat.First thing inthe morning I got app with the duty Dr.
The Dr. exam DS and said there is nothing wrong with my baby, little bit of discharge in the ear.I said,is this the reason DS cant eat? I asked medicene for Ds.,He said There is no need it will go by itself. He did not find nothing at all!I know I am a mum and there was something wrong with my 19 weeks old baby.I was keep asking questions indirectly to find out more.He said if he wont get better come back.I was confused.I finally I asked him:Do you have kids?He replied No...You dont really know whats wrong with my baby do you?I said...I looked in to his eyes and he shaked his head.I was sooooo upset and my world become upside down because I was going out from Dr. room with no answer.I went to the reception explained the situation that I wasnt satisfied I would like someone else to examine my Ds.They were helpfull I saw another Dr which we knew each other.
DDr.examined my Ds and told me baby is not itself something wrong.I get some advise to try for couple of hours at home to see if it works and make Ds drink milk,if not she would refer me to the hospital to examined by Pediatrician. We end up at the hospital.Pediatrician said baby has bad sore throat. Antibaotics given for 7 days. I told my story to the Dr. and she said ;mumy always right.... That was a big relief. Finally I knew what was wrong with ds.Now ds is getting better.I send my regards and thanks to my Dr who refer us to the hospital. But I am very dissapointed abouth the other Dr. Baby life is not that cheap.they cant talk and explain their selves/feelings. the only way is to cry.I would expect/hope the same attention from the first DR.Why would I take my baby to Gp if ok???Why would not he refer me to the hospitalif he has no answers?
I need your help mums, what shall I do?Shall I write a complain letter.I dont want the the other babies and mums get upset like we did,It was heart breaking.
Thanks for reading my story with patience.Your advise is very important. What would you do?Can you Please help!

You certainly do need to complain. A baby not taking fluids is always something that should ring alarm bells for gps.

Problem is so many gps don't seem to understand babies. I had a situation where a gp made me seem like a paranoid mum - 24 hours later Ds was in hdu.

Put your complaint in writing to the pct, and in the same letter I would also praise the gp who did notice a problem

Sorry you told two doctors that your 19 week old baby had two hour gaps between 80-120ml fluid and that baby was feeling unwell and neither took your baby's temp nor looked in throat or felt glands?

Is your first language English? You write like it might be Chinese, which may explain 'everyday' it gets worse implying that this has gone on for days.

Whoever you are this is Bollocks.

Agree with sirzy

I agree your English is highly unusual.

but you can always ask to see another GP if you want to, Some have a background working with babies. I think mothers of babies have to be very assertive that something is very wrong and your child is ill and needs help - otherwise doctors will just say 'babies get ill'.

I find it hard to believe that a GP would say he didn't know whta was wrong with your baby.
