Nits!

any advice re nits. My 3rd old is going mad, have tried Herron, nitty gritty and wet combing with conditioner but she is still itching!

Itching can carry on for a few days after nits are gone....but i would re-treat with Hedrin after a few days anyway.

I was pregnant, and she'd shared them! So we couldn't use any treatments. We did nitty gritty comb every night for 4 nights, then every 3rd night for about 2 weeks. Google life cycle of a nit. When you know when they breed and when they hatch it's easier to work out how often you need to comb, but you have to be VERY thorough. It took about 45 minutes to do DD's hair. A good film and a treat afterwards help. She also co-operated because she wanted to get rid of the "insects in her hair".

I also recommend Vosene nit repellent shampoo. Nits are rife in DD's school but the only time she's caught them (so far) was when she was away with Grandparents going to soft play centres and wasn't using this shampoo & detangle spray.

Vosene spray in detangler with nit repellant is great for everyday use, or school days anyway! Only seen it in boots.

Last year I spent over £100 on nits, the only way to get rid is to use the oil for cradle cap and comb comb and comb. Every day for about 2 weeks. Sounds gross, but washing up liquid for washing the oil out after you've combed, then use a normal shampoo if u like.

I used loads and loads of conditioner when combing DD's hair. A good way of using up all the little leftover bits in the cupboard that I've decided I don't like :)
