Hi all, HV noticed yesterday that my baby's fontanelle seemed closed, so I took him to gp today and she couldn't say that it wasn't. She has referred him to paeds but it could take a week or more for him to be assessed. Could anyone tell me sensibly what this could mean? I've scared myself with googling it, but should I be worried??

Erm, no idea sorry!!

However, as many things, it can be indicative of (albeit rare) something else so it's good to check. Sometimes though, OP, Google is not your friend!!

We had exactly this and I was v concerned. Google is a bugger in these situations isn't it! We were referred to paeds and consultant had a proper poke about ds' head and told us the fontanelle hadn't closed but was just small. We had to have his head circumference measured monthly to check it was increasing. All is well and we are being discharged next month. I know its a massive worry, but it could very well turn out to be nothing. Our paeds consultant appointment came through really quickly btw. Hth
