Constant cough - humidifier?

hello, my 13mo has had a cough practically since birth! It goes in peaks and toughs and seems to be worse when teething. The last 3 nights have been very sleepless - worse than when she was first born! Poor thing has horrible cough at night and often gags. Cough meds don't work.
Thinking of trying humidifier... Any experience? Can anyone recommend one? We need sleep!
Any help much appreciated.

Ps seeing ped on sat as I'm also worried it might be asthma as worse at night and hubby has it. Heard humidifiers can help that as well.

DD was same until she was 3/4. Humidifier was helpful, inhaler ( if diagnosed) and nose drops were brilliant (not saline, they were rubbish). Ask your GP to prescribe some good nasal drops as the child optrivine is now only available for over 6's.
There are 2 different types of humidifier (cold and hot), we went for the hot one. Other than that they all do the same job.
The good news is most children get through this stage when they get to 2yrs, it's a maturation of the wind pipe thing apparently?

have you seen a gp? coughing at night can be a sign of asthma.
do you have mould in the house?
humidifier can help as can airing (opening the windows for 10 min before bedtime).
