Recurrent chest infections in 5yr old DD

DD is 5 years old and on average gets a chest infection every 3 weeks for the last two years . She is put on 3 Steroid tablets (dissolved in water) per day for 5/6 days , Steroid Inhalers and Antibiotics every month .
she is unwell again today after being up all night with a temperature and coughing and wheeze in her chest .
This has been going on now for just over 2 years and i am very worried on the long term effects all this will have on her .
Taking her back to the doctor tomorrow morning . GP keeps telling me dd will grow out of this
Anyone been through this ? And did your child grow out of it ?

hi elmofan dd is 2yr4mths and has had recurring chest infections and pneumonia three times took her to dr greally 2wks ago and he thinks she has asthma.he changed her brown inhaler(BECLAZONE) to the orange one (flixotide).She is still not over the last infection so i put her back on singulair sachets last night.Has your doctor recommended these.It is so hard to know what to do i am constantly questioning myself too about will they grow out of it but in the meantime we have to try to control things.I am in the docs every wk as well .The singulair blocks leukotrienes that cause narrowing of the airways.Hope your dd feels better soon.

DD is on a blue and brown inhaler - salbutamol & Beclazone ATM
She does have Asthma , eczema and hayfever (the whole package)
I might ask my GP to re-access her inhalers tomorrow as i don't think they are working for her any more .

Hi again elmofan there is another thread on her about asthma i just posted on it so it is on the top of the discussion board..lots of us in the same boat unfortunately
