Neurotic question - is it ok for my not-very-well 4 year old to still be asleep?

My 4 year old who's had d&v yesterday and last night has been asleep for three and a hlaf hours. This is good recovery sleep, not something to be worried about, isn't it? Is there a point where I should start to worry?

If he's had no sleep last night, then I'm sure he's fine. You could always give him a nudge to have a drink of water.

You could also just give him a bit of a nudge and make sure he seems just ordinarily sleepy, rather than unconscious, if you're worried about him. But if he got little sleep last night, he'll just be catching up on it - chances are he'll wake about the time you want to head for bed yourself!

Thank you! He woke up in the end, of course - absolutely fine. Now lying in bed shouting about how boring it is that he can't go to sleep...
