Walking on tiptoes

DS1 3.5 has been walking on tiptoes more and more over the past year, it is so obvious now he looks like he is wearing imaginary 4" heels. Saw a specialist recently and they said it was something he should grow out of with help from constant reminders from us not to walk on his tiptoes. Has anyone else had this with their DC? Any more tips on how we can encourage him to walk with his heels touching the floor? Doc suggested wearing boots may help.

my dd4 walks on her tiptoes alot but not all the time, she also trips up easy, she has flat feet, are you worried about anything else or is it just the tiptoe walking, i only ask as ds tiptoes as well

Not worried about anything else. Apparently the longer he walks on tiptoes the worse it could be for his developing feet and legs. He's already complaining of painful legs and feet in the night.

my dd tends to walk alot on tiptoes really high up when she has no shoes on, but with shoes she only tiptoes now and again and def not as high, very low, but she has got flat feet so don't know if this has anything to do with it, as she has insoles in her shoes.
i would be tempted to take him back, it took two visits before they put insoles in dd shoes the second appointment was not easy to get but i stood my ground and told them she could not be left as she was in pain.

Apparently my DH walked on his tiptoes until about 4. He has no problems whatsoever now

I used to walk on my tiptoes whenever I didn't have shoes on, I grew out of it but still do it around the house even now...

It's funny, DH also says he tends to walk on tiptoes sometimes in the house when he doesn't have shoes on! I also have a friend who used to do it as a child and her daughter also does it. There seems quite a genetic basis to it!
