DD can't see a GP until Friday but she is on pain now. Any suggestions for how I can help her would be great, thank you.

She doesn't want Calpol.
She is 8.
Her vagina is stinging, sometimes when weeing sometimes for no apparent reason.
Urine sample has come back fine.
Have tried a warm flannel on it.
She was checked by a GP 9 days ago and he didn't se anything untoward.

If you check properly (ie your dd asleep, you being quick and not disturbing her, and getting a good look at her anus) you will see them if they are there.

TBH I wouldn't treat unless I was certain, either. But every time since the first time that dd had them, I could tell by her symptoms, and checking merely confirmed them. And what you describe screams threadworm to me.

I know I could be wrong, because your dd is not my dd, and they could be affected differently.

Using the Sellotape like birdsofshoreandsea suggested makes sense. You'd be try to capture eggs, not actual worms.

So do both - check by torch and get a sample by tape.

I can recommend the Calpol melts if she is is in pain and won't take the liquid.

TBH after 2 weeks and as a one off I'd be tempted to treat for threadworm anyway to rule it out. Wouldn't as a rule or regularly, but at least it would rue one more thing out esp as the treatment works really quickly and it is only one quick tablet for her to take.

Easiest way to check for threadworms is to poop in a pot, do it in a dark room, put the light on and bingo - you will see white threads trying to get away from the light. Might be less invasive than tape and examining at night - that would have freaked me out as a child.

My little girl used to get a sore vagina, and she said it always helped when I put some kamillosan ointment on it. You can get it from boots - it's just chamomile ointment. Hope she feels better soon.
