Chickenpox exposure question

Probably a silly question but if I go and visit a friend who's DD has chickenpox without my DS am I likely to pass it onto DS? He is only 7 mtgs and I want to avoid it until he's a bit bigger. I have had it as a child.

The answer is no as if you have had chickenpox yourself when young, you will have been carrying the varicella-zoster virus responsible for it ever since.

This remains dormant, usually forever ? unless you come into contact with someone with shingles, which can then re-activate the virus.

You cannot develop shingles from someone who has chickenpox, so you aren't at risk from visiting your friend nor will you 'carry' it back to your DS.

You can get chicken pox twice but it's EXTREMELY rare so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Hope this helps and reassures you.
