Extreme teething? Advice and sympathy needed!

my 4mo DD is showing signs of teething, I think, but when I mentioned this to my HV she didn't think so and said 4mo is too early for teething! The thing is the symptoms are quite extreme: runny nose, VERY bad runny poos which happen almost every feed and are sometimes such dark green colour they're almost blue, she sometimes clamps down on my nipple when feeding, and she's gnawing her knuckles.
I've taken her to the dr about the diahorea (sp?) just in case these symptoms are unrelated and she said its prob a viral tummy bug and to ride it out.
This has been going on for over a week, she doesn't feed properly anymore (she's ebf) and nights are hell because she wakes 4/5 times in the night
I'm using both calpol and ibuprofen and bonjela. I'm going to get Anbesol today.
Could anyone tell me if I'm right in thinking this is teeth? And therefore I'm not going totally mad, and i just need to ride it out....

Ooh poor you and your DD... Can you see bulging bits on her gums when you look in her mouth? Sort of tooth shaped but not through? If everything is flat and smooth then it probably isn't teething yet. My DD's teeth sort of show through first ad big lumps and then almost tranclusent white just before (about 1 week) before they come out. It's not too early, babies can have teeth from about 3 months onwards but it could be a tummy bug too with cramps causing her to clamp...

Hmmm no teeth bulges that I can see. Will try to see this as a positive... As in it's a tummy bug that will go soon!

I have to say they are the best teething aid. I can use them as a spoon aswell so its obviously a bonus. I have tried regular teething rings from the chemist and Asda but they just dont seem to work unlike these spoons. I'd definitely recommend.
