Temp was 39.5 last night, its gone down a little bit but he's still roasting. He's complaining that it hurts when he wees; do I need to take him to the doc or wait and see if it clears up?

Going to give the surgery a ring when they open again at 2 but wanted to gauge opinion here first

I've looked online at the pictures for viral and bacterial tonsillitis, looks like it's bacterial to me but not a doc :)

Live yoghurt's a great idea, that you. Luckily our GP surgery is pretty good, I should be able to get him an appt before lunch tomorrow.

Did the GP not look in his throat then? High temp and feeling unwell = rudimentary check of ears, throat and stomach round here.

Ouch. Tonsillitis is rotten, even as an adult.

No Angry he didn't even look at his ears. He's one of the partners too but we were in there about 90s seconds

Oh, he squeezed his belly, and not it a proper way either. Just squeezed it.

He treated me like a neurotic mother tbh, which he would know to be rubbish if he'd bothered to look at DS history. He's been to the GP about 3 times in the last 3 years, I didn't even take him when he had noro

Oh I'm sorry you were treated so shoddily. My first two suggestions with a high temp are ears and throat usually but assumed your gp would check.

I hope he has a good night's sleep and you get in there nice and early tomorrow.

ScarlettIsWalking · 01/08/2011 22:33

Outrageous that he didn't do a ENT :(
hope he's better soon

JarethTheGoblinKing · 01/08/2011 22:38

Kind of hoping we get the same GP tomorrow so I can pull him apart Angry

Actually hoping we get lovely doctor who is DSs GP and a paed.

All sorted, got antibiotics and DS is already getting better.

That's good

ShowOfHands · 02/08/2011 15:22

Fabulous. Just watch his tummy for mild upsets. Antibiotics always give me and dd mild problems. Lots of live yoghurt will help.

For future reference I always ask them to check ears / throat and chest if unexplained temp. They should do it without asking imo but they often don't.
