Red palms

DD (18 months) has suddenly developed red palms. I've looked on NHS direct with no joy.

She is otherwise fine. Any ideas? TIA

How red? Worryingly red? Sore looking red?

It might sound stupid, but has she been eating large quantities of anything red?
I used to get orange palms by eating large quantities of satsumas!

Well, funny you should say that but she does eat a lot of tomatoes. That really could explain it! I know people can go orange after eating lots of carrots.

They don't look sore, and they're not bright red, but definitely much more red than they were a week ago.

Thanks so much!

I'm not saying that's the answer, but it might be possible.

I have just googled and found this:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycopene

Look at the 'Adverse Effects' section.

Thanks Ruth, will keep an eye and check with HV too when I next see her.
