Blood with poo always bad? 3.10DS

Nursery worker called today and said she had noticed a bit of blood in the loo after DS did a HUGE poo, and maybe to check his bum. I looked at bedtime and couldn't see any evidence of a tear or anything. Is this really bad? Panicking a bit- surely blood not good sign. Should i take him to OOH tomorrow?

Any thoughts appreciated!

if he had done a huge poo it's far more likely to be a little tear.

Probably a little fissure caused by big poo. I wouldn't worry.

Never had this before and bit shocked to get call from nursery, altho she did say it was a pretty mega poo.

Will he let you check him? see if you can see a tear? if he suffers from constipation i would take him to the GP, if its a one off then i wouldn't worry but give him plenty of fibre so his next poo is soft and easy to pass as you need to let the tear heal.

He's always been fine with pooing, and never had issues with constipation, so was a bit shocked. . .

He was quite happy to let me look, and really couldn't see anything.

Can you ask her what colour the blood was ie fresh bright red or dark dull red.

Usually dark dull means blood from further up the colon. Fresh bright usually means nearer the exit IYSWIM, so as the other posts have said, likely to be a fissure.
Deffo lots of water,fruit,fruit juice, figs if he'll eat them.
Blood always looks more, like a nosebleed, looks like pints
