Thermometer - do I need one?

DD is almost 5 months.
It just occurred to me that we don't have a thermometer and I wondered if we needed one? If I feel she's got a temperature do I need to be able to measure it?

I'd get one of those ear thermometers, they're great. You can tell when your child has a temperature using your hand yes, but I think it is good to be able to know whether it is a fever or not etc.

Yes, you do need to be able to measure it so that you can see if the temperature is going up or down. You cannot estimate that with your hand.

You also need to know if the temp goes over a certain point, and does not come down despite giving calpol/ibuprofen, as that is the moment when you seek medical advice.

Thanks.
Better get one!
