lateral inscisors-the ones beside the front teeth ,does you 8 yr old have baby or adult ones?

ds unfortunately has sticky out ones
am not sure if they're baby teeth or not though
have googled and apparently they erupt about 8-9
ds's teeth came out quite early compared to his peers
so a poll please

I think dd has lost 4 teeth at the front on top, the middle ones and one at either side, she has been complaining her mouth has been sore or about a week but i just thought she was coming out in sympathy with ds as hes jst started losing his teeth!

Dds stick out too, she needs a brace now to straighten sort them, her middle front teeth are further back than the next too!

have you had advice that she needs a brace already at 8.5yrs?

dd (7 1/2) has lost 4 at the top and 4 at the bottom. The 4 adult teeth at the bottom have come in but she only has the top middle ones through fully and only one of the side ones has just started coming in so she still has a gap at the other side. I have already been told she will need braces later as her mouth will be overcrowded

All children have what we call "the ugly duckling stage" most commonly before the canines (eye teeth) come down as these can have an impact on the roots of the laterals and it all falls in to place. 8-9 is v v early for a brace so be patient! A lot can depend on the skeletal pattern and how the jaws relate to each other.

ds's are baby teeth, bless him he has only lost 2 teeth so far.

DS1 is almost 9 and has only lost his 4 front ones (2 top and 2 bottom) so far.

He is very annoyed as his 7 year old brother lost his 3rd tooth today and so is fast catching up

veritythebrave aww poor thing. That's why I am getting concerned, he's getting self conscious about them.
Doesn't help when and adult family friend keeps pointing them out

DD2 (nearly 8) has teeth like tombstones - she had lost eleven by her 7th birthday so the adult ones came through all over the place. As more of them come through they are looking a bit better, but we know she is likely to need a brace at some point in the future (but not yet). Her two front teeth are not actually central!

The orthodontist said that if they lose their baby teeth early, everything tends to shift to the front of the mouth, leading to overcrowding. So Jemima, you can reassure your DS that he will hopefully avoid all that.

DD (just 9) has real vampire teeth and dentist said last year she would need braces. She went at Easter and is going back in July to start the process for an orthodontist.
She's still got a load of milk teeth, so may be a while.
