Symptoms of chicken pox before spots?

DS -13 months- has temperature of over 39, is grumpy and off his food. Toddler he sees a couple of times a week been diagnosed with chicken pox. What are the symptoms likely to be before the spots show? Does this sound likely? Should he go to childminder tomorrow or should I take time off work? Other kids with childminder all already had it.

exactly the same with my ds last week - also 13 months, also over 39 temp - and it was chicken pox. If it is the pox, they'll probably be there in the morning. Check out google images if you're not sure what to look for
