12 month old scratching chickenpox

Anyone got any tips on how to stop my 12 month old from scratching his chickenpox? I can put socks on his hands at night but this would do his head in if I put them on him in the day time.

file the fingernails really short rather than cutting them - that makes the edges really soft and damage more unlikely - good luck!

piriton anti-histamine should help with the itching (suitable from 1 year). Plenty of baths with bicarb or oats should help soothe them too.

Cheers for your advice Wine. ds now has very short soft nails and we had a lovely bath last night with an old sockful of oats which seems to have helped with the itching and the sleeping! (also helped with my older son's eczema as well - bonus!)
