smell coming from ds' mouth

ds2 (6) has had smelly breath for about a week now

He has no dental cavities and is checked regularly, he brushes twice a day with a sonic toothbrush and Colgate and he also has some mouthwash. It's not due to any spicy food either.

I think it's coming from deeper down. Can they end up with smelly breath due to a sore throat or snotty nose? We've all had a bit of a virus lately and I'm wondering if it's due to that.

Never had this problem before. There's definitely nothing stuck up there either.

He is generally in very good health and has been eating/drinking normally. Everything else is normal, no tummy upsets either.

I always know when my dd is getting tonsilitus as she gets very bad breath. I know I also get bad breath when I have a sinus infection. I imagine his problem is related to the infection he has had. If it doesn't clear soon I would get him checked over by your gp incase a slight infection is still rumbling away.

The virus could be a cause especially if he is "bunged up" and breathing through his mouth.
Also are you supervising the tooth brushing to make sure it done properly? (or done at all, if my experience of young boys is anything to go by).

Could be cattargh or, if hes not drinking enough, dehydration can make your breath smell.

I've been supervising him more closely over the past few days and he seems to be managing okay. I think it's due to his infection. He has been complaining that everything smells of sick. I might take him to the surgery just to get checked over. He's normally so healthy.
