Facial birthmarks

My dd is 7 weeks old and has red birthmarks over her eyelids, nose and upper lip. Initially told it was bruising from delivery but obviously not as still there and definately some form of birthmark. GP says have to wait and see if they fade and nothing would be done at her age anyway. Feeling a bit down about it as shes so beautiful but don't like people looking into pram in case they comment on it and bit reluctant to 'show her off' to people. Anyone have any experience of this?

Not as extensive but my DD had one over her eyelid. I can't remember when it went, I think close to the end of the first year.

Birthmarks that disappear can be common in babies but I think you also need to adjust to the fact that maybe it won't. I am sure as you've said she is a lovely beautiful little girl either way.

my DD had a big one on one of her eyelids and I think it went after a few months - definitely didn't take as long as a year. I guess it varies. i am sure they'll go - but probably not after 7 weeks. Don't worry, it is very common. In my NCT group another mother's DS had quite a big one on his cheek that also went. If it really bothers you take her to a specialist who might be able to tell you what type it is, but I think it's much too early now. Please enjoy her for the beautiful healthy baby that she is!!! :)

Hi, my DS has a strawberry mark right in the centre of his forehead, it's still there now and he is 3 next week, his hair covers it most of the time (not purposely just does)
To be honest I don't really notice it now as it's just his face IYSWIM it will probably go at some point, sometimes it's redder than others.
Lots of people have asked if he has bumped his head, right from birth, and are quite embarrassed when I say 'no it's a birthmark'
I can honestly say I don't notice it now at all, he is my beautiful boy and if it goes it goes and if not, it doesn't matter. :)

Sorry meant to say, don't worry too much about it, you will stop noticing it, she is still very young and chances are it will go before long :)

Our DS2 has a birthmark on his forehead. It is a couple of cm's across and raised, very red. It wasn't there at birth(!), appeared at about 7 weeks. At 13 months it is still there, but slightly smaller.

A nurse told me it may go in one week or ten years, it would be hard to tell.

My friend's daughter had two similar birthmarks on her face/neck. At age 7 one is still there, the other has disappeared.

Enjoy your beautiful healthy daughter and try not to stress Smile
