My DS has been suffering from constipation pretty much since I started him on solids at 5.5 months. I have tried prunes and orange juice but he still has hard poos that make him scream when they come out (poor little thingSad). Any advice?

He may have an anal fissure (they make you scream). Best thing for those is magnesium. I get the Boots magnesium capsules. Magnesium's a natural laxative and muscle relaxant which takes the pain out of trying to pass a BM with a fissure. Last time my dd was really constipated, I cut open a capsule, squeezed three drops onto a spoon and gave her that. She was over 1 yo though, so try 1 drop to start with. When she was younger, I used to soak and puree a prune (she'd eat about half of it) which worked, but that was just for constipation. Also cut out the orange juice (constipating), does he like apple or pear juice (slightly laxative?) Avoid rice at all costs.

Sorry if sounded a bit uptight, was trying to get it all written down b4 the aforementioned dd woke up again. Which she now has, ha, so that's me up 'til dawn!

Poor lamb, I really feel for him. Also try putting Sudocrem thickly on the "problem area", it helps a bit.
