Nose bleeds

Hi my ds age 5 has suffered nose bleeds since he was about 1. He has on average 3 or 4 a month, I suffered also as a child eventually having my nose clotorised (sp) at age 10 thereabouts.

We accept the nose bleeds no huge panics, ds is really good in sorting himself out when they start as in getting a tissue or asking for help if at school, but at what stage should we look at professional help if at all?

Nosebleeds are something my family suffer from too. Only my brother ever had the blood vessels cauterized & I don't think it cured the problem permanently but that was a long time ago so procedures may have improved.

Maybe just mention it to your GP the next time you are in to see what the current guidance is? My kids are also unfazed by having nosebleeds - it's usually adults who are not familiar with them who start flapping!

dd(7) got prescribed a nasal spray (flixonase I think) a few months ago to help with nose bleeds. She only had one course and they seemed to have calmed down again. They could be allergy related (dh takes daily anti-histamines and nasal spray due to allergies which used to cause his nose to bleed)
