Hi all,
DD is 4 and since Saturday has been running a temp of between 38 - 39.5. She has a complicated history which I won't go into all of but she has a medical condition that means she is susceptible to chest problems and she has just finished prophylactic antibiotics for the autumn/winter. On Friday I was up at GP with DS 20months and he was given antibiotics for tonsilitis and an ear infection - he is fine now. DD started on sat with a temp but has been eating fine and I have seen her a lot sicker than this!! Took her to GP yesterday for a check over and urine was clear, chest clear, throat and ears fine etc....so its probably just a virus right? The thing is we are going on holiday on friday and I thought this morning she was fine. But her temp now is 38.9 although she is happily playing and not saying she feels ill. Would you take her back to dr and if so when bearing in mind the holiday? We do have emergency antibiotics we keep at home which I will take with us. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

If in doubt then take her back to the doctor. It can't hurt to get things checked. If all ok then at least you know where you stand and if any further treatment/test is needed then best to find out before your holiday.

I think if she's happy then just let her be. The temp will help her fight off whatever it is and hopefully she'll be fine by Friday. If she's still sick on thurs then take her back but if today is day 4 then you'd really expect her to be better by then if it is a virus.

Thanks for the advice - so hard to know what to do sometimes. If we weren't going away I wouldn't be so worried to be honest. She slept much better last night so hopefully thats a sign she is coming out the other side. She woke with a very slight temp so will see how she goes today and if any doubt will take her back to the dr tomorrow.
Thanks again!
