Persistant cough in 8 month old

Hi all, my 8 month DD has had a cough pretty much constantly for the last two months. It's not been too bad, hasn't been disturbing her sleep until now. It seems to be getting a bit worse/sounds more chesty. I took her to the Dr a few weeks ago, he told me that it would be a virus, it would run it's course and tbh seemed like he though I was wasting his time. He also told me that you could no longer buy baby cough medicine, which I've found not to be true. I've given her some medicine, but it doesn't appear to make much difference. I'm reluctant to go back to the Dr, last time I left feeling a bit PFB, like I shouldn't have bothered. Does anyone have any experience and/or advice with this?

TIA

Yes. my DD gets a terrible cough, really chesty barking carry on. Shes 2 and 1/2 now and still suffers. Hers will get better for a couple for weeks and start again - she even has full on coughing fits in her sleep. I have been numerous times to Dr to be told that her chest is clear when she's been coughing constantly.

At her age tho there's not much on the market. I found calpol better than cough medicine, and steam her chest on a night. Put her in shower cubicle or in bath with shower over.

If you are worried tho take her back. Thats what they'r there for.
Hope she's better soon.
