DS is 5 mths & teething, have had 2 hrs sleeps last night, not all in one stint either. He is currently on penicillin for inflammed lymph nodes to treat a suspected underlying infection. Have been advised to try Ashton & Parsons powders for his teething & to help with sleep but wanted to check if they are ok to use with penicilin? Believe they contain a cammomile (sp) extract.....?

Can anyone offer any advice, very sleep deprived & trying to care for 2yr old too....:(

Of course they are fine!

Ashton and Parson's are absolutely fab! Feels a bit weird tipping the contents of a paper wrap into your baby's mouth to start with, but they are completely homeopathic. My HV recommended them, best bit of advice I ever had. They really do work!

bigbadbarry · 08/05/2011 08:04

They are herbal not homeopathic - big difference! Nelsons tweets powders are homeopathy ( don't waste your money)

bigbadbarry · 08/05/2011 08:04

Gah, stupid auto correct - teetha not tweets!

RitaMorgan · 08/05/2011 08:08

I think Ashton and Parsons are homeopathic too aren't they? In which case they're just sugar granules and won't mess with medicine.

bigbadbarry · 08/05/2011 08:11

No, they are herbal. Tincture of matricaria? Or something like that (whatever that may be)

I can't do links very easily on my phone but if you look here www.medicines.org.uk/EMC/medicine/4447/SPC/Ashton+%26+Parsons+Infants'+Powders/ you will see it is herbal - an alcoholic plant extract. The plant is chosen because it is used homeopathically, though

A&P are useless other than as a placebo, so you can give them alongside anything.

Oh right? Fair enough :)

Tried them, made no bloody difference, still screaming & screaming & awake half the night. Calpol not working either. Has seen GP, has more swollen lymph nodes after 4 days of amoxycillin so has been refered to specialist at the hospital.

Someone has mentioned possiblity of twisted gut but not sure if this would affect lymphatic system? He has suffered colic like symptoms since birth, EBF & only has a poo every 3-4 days, can be bit green & always very loose but has always been this way so haven't worried about it.

Anyone out there have any insights??
