hi there, just after some advice really. My dd is 7 and has threadworm again, this is the fourth infection over the past couple of yrs. We are treating her with ovex, washing etc etc. The problem seems to occurring because she puts her fingers into her bottom. I only found this out when I noticed small smears of poo on the bathroom wall. Gross I know but true none the less!! I have asked her why she is doing this and she tells me it is because her bottom itches. I have asked her to promise me not to do this again but I had the same conversation with her a few months ago. I can't watch her all of the time and have stressed the importance of hand washing etc but she doesn't seem to really take much notice. Help is it just my daughter doing this?!

Poor thing!!! Try putting some antiseptic cream eg Savlon etc. On her bottom where it's itching.
I heard about this home remedy years ago; but haven't had the chance to test it though. If you eat apples at night before going to sleep, the next morning the worms are flushed out of your system. There is no harm in trying, apples are good for you anyway so you can't really loose.
Good luck and let us know how you got on?

Lol at mofo!!! I have told her that if she does it again she will have to go into hospital and have a very big operation! It was when she asked me if she would die that I knew she had got the message! Poor thing :-0

She might not be wiping properly which makes her itch

Put nail brushes in bathroom and encourage use

She must wear knickers to bed

Vaseline on bum hole (prevents worms from laying eggs, they get stuck in it)

Wash hands throughly in morning before she has chance to put them in her mouth again
