I have twin boys who are just turning 2 and who everyone agrees produce an absurd amount of snot. By everyone I don't just mean family and friends. Nursery have said they've never seen anything quite so bad, ds1 was in hospital just after Christmas and the consultant and all the nurses mentioned his breathing/snoring. Both boys have failed their hearing tests twice already which the audiologists were sure was due to the amount of fluid in their ears. Ds2 has been to a SALT who wasn't surprised he wasn't speaking as he was so stuffed up.
And yet they don't seem too unhealthy - they had one bout of D&V in their first winter, but avoided it subsequently when everyone around them had it. They don't seem to get ear or throat infections though everyone asks if they do. They have had a few illnesses over the winter, but only mild coughs and colds - it's just that when healthy they still seem full of mucus!
So to the point eventually. We are off to have their hearing tested for the 3rd time soon. Everyone expects them to fail again and get referred to ENT. But is there anything, at this age, that they will actually do? Are we just going to have to bulk buy tissues for the next few years?
