He doesn't seem in pain with it but it is hot to touch and red to look at with a definate line above and below the elbow. He hasn't banged it as far as I know.

you should take him to A+E

he may have a pulled elbow

nothing serious, and very common in bendy toddlers, but needs checking out x

timetosmile · 04/05/2011 19:46

Def go to A+E..could be anything, but could be a serious joint infection (not to scare you...but do please get it looked at by someone)

alibobins · 04/05/2011 19:51

Gosh thought you would say its nothing :( he is using it fine no problems.
Dh just took ds1 to taekwondo can it wait until he gets back?

yes, it can wait until dh gets back, but you really should take him

google "pulled elbow"

alibobins · 04/05/2011 20:31

Thanks :) I've googled but not convinced as he really has been using it fine and not been in any pain with it. Dh will be hoime in about 15 mins then off to the hospital.

ok, but a hot, red joint is not something to be taken lightly (in anyone, but especially tots)

good luck, should be fairly quiet at this time x

timetosmile · 04/05/2011 21:28

Let us know how you get on, as AF says, red hot joints need looking at properly to rule out anything serious

moojie · 04/05/2011 21:41

Yes, please go to a&e. I work in an a&e and we would take this quite seriously. Good luck.

AnyFucker · 05/05/2011 07:05

how is he today ?

did you get some medical advice ?

alibobins · 05/05/2011 18:53

Got home from hospital about an hour ago none the wiser.
First thoughts were an infection but so far all the bloods have come back clear and ds2 is well in himself with no temperature or discomfort so the doctors were a bit baffled. They have said it could be an allergic reaction to a bite so have increased his piriton as he takes it for hayfever.
We have got to take him back if it is no better in a couple of days and we have open access to ward incase ds develops a temp, stops using the arm or any other new symptoms.
All a bit strange but glad I followed your advice as we were seen straight away in a&e.

ah, sorry no answers but they have taken you seriously and done everything appropriately

it may just disappear and you still be none the wiser, but better safe than sorry x

you will now, if he does get worse, have no messing about if you have to go back (hopefully you won't)

alibobins · 08/05/2011 15:11
