The doc is closed tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I noticed earlier this week that one of his testicule was a little bit larger, but thought it was just his normal development. But tonight, after his bath, I checked it and it's about three times the size of the other one. Should I call out of hour GP tomorrow - Royal Wedding day????? I'm in London, I guess if I call early I'll be seen by out of hour GP at hospital... But what would you do??? He sais it doesn't hurt, but is a tough little guy...

Sounds like it could be a hydrocele

DS had one at 8 weeks and it went of its own accord in about a week. I would probably get it checked anyway though just for peace of mind.

I would ring NHS direct - it could be twisted (although I think that is painful)

Don't worry about it it being Royal Wedding etc, if you need medical attention, you need medical attention full stop Smile

Yes but the GP is shut for four days in a row, which really is not good. A&E is going to be packed!

Can you not give your OOH a call? I know ours will give advice over the phone and only ask to see you if they really think its needed.

Furball · 28/04/2011 20:08

triage - will assess though and a 4 yo would probably be seen quicker

clayre · 28/04/2011 20:09

Go to a&e it mite be a twisted testicle and they only have 6 hours to save it, I speak from bitter experience :(

Furball · 28/04/2011 20:09

there must be emergency doctors - ours gives the number on their answerphone.

clayre · 28/04/2011 20:14

My ds was born with a hydrocele and the testicle twisted and he lost his testicle, there is only a short time to save it, if you take him to a&e you will not be made to wait!

BlueberryPancake · 28/04/2011 20:20

OK just called out of hour GP and will take him in asap. I didn't know that but out of hour gives you a specific time for an appointment so you don't have to wait. Thanks
