with a temp of 38 (was taken underarm so 37.1), sticky red eyes, snotty nose, lots of pooey nappies, very grizzly, not sleeping well, waking up crying, really not herself today.

Have called OOH doc, am waiting to hear. Am quite worried. :(

She's only in a t-shirt and a nappy, so not overly bundled up. Just managed to get her to sleep after her being grizzly all day and sleeping fitfully on and off. Was crying on the boob. Any kind of bug going around, could it just be a cold?

Could just be a cold. Could be an infection of some sorts. Ds started ear infections at about this age.
Probably something fairly mild but I'd agree with getting them checked out at that stage. If you do get worried (eg not resopnding/breathing difficulties/hard to wake etc.) then do go to A&E/out of hours. They won't mind with such a young baby, it's either something simple in which case you don't take up much time, or you need to be there.
