DD flat feet question

My DD is 8yrs and has flat feet and weak ankles, I would love to get her some sandals but the best thing for her comfort seems to be proper traning shoes. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've seen and advert for Kids fiflops today has anyone bought these and are they very supportive?

Does she have orthotics? Something with a filled in back offers more support for an ankle. How about a canvas shoe? That is cooler on your feet but would be more supportive?

get a physio assessment (via gp) if she can get insoles then something reasonably supportive around the ankle will do nicely :)
My dd has to wear piedro boots all the time - but hopefully when she's older she might make it to canvas boots and something slightly more summery...

our 3 yr old recently had a paediatrician appointment for his flat feet. she recommended buying him fitflops (unfortunately they start at a size 9 and he is a size 8 at the mo). she has also refered him for an orthotics appointment.... more than a month on we are still waiting for it....

she recommended some feet exercises to strengthen his feet: walking on tip toes; picking up pens with his toes; and walking bare foot in sand.
