Big angry looking splinter

Ds got a bristle from a brush stuck right in the ball of his foot this morning. We've washed it and put soap on it and covered with a plaster. There is no way he's going to let me dig it out with tweezers. It's huge and looks very deeply embedded. Would it be ridiculous of me to take him to a walk in centre to let them have a look at it?

Not at all.

FWIW I keep Magnesium Sulphate in the house. It's a drawing paste.

Cover the splinter with it thickly, put a plaster on, check after a few hours.

Should do the job in future.

But since there won't be any shops open today I'd go to the walk in centre

Maybe a limp-in-centre with that? Wink
I've had reasonable success in removing splinters when asleep. Wait until they're fast asleep though or you get kicked in the head.

I've been to walk in centre with a big splinter. They froze foot and used scalpel to get it out. Another time we had one under a nail. I telephoned walk in centre. They said to put magnesium sulphate on it and wait til it came out. Magnesium didn't work at all but it eventually grew out. But nurse did say if it looks angry or infected to go to GPs to get antibiotic and maybe tetanus jab if not covered.

I echo the use of Magnesium Sulphate drawing paste. It's fab. Slather a lot on the area, put a plaster over it and it should draw the offending object up to the surface overnight, making it very easy and painless to then remove with tweezers. I've used it many a time on my 6 year old and can't recommend it enough for splinters and such things.

Sotired - I totally agree.

When I think of all the times I hoked and poked with tweezers and they were screeching...

Much easier to stick the paste on Wink
