Anyone tried elderflower cordial or tea for hayfever and could you give them to a 7mo?

DD2 is nearly 7mo and for the past two weeks has had streaming eyes, nose and been really phlegmy which is unfortunately making her sick at night/early morning.

Went to the doctor at the start as her eyes were really gunky and he diagnosed conjunctivitis and a cold. She is still phlegmy and being sick 2 weeks on. Saw the pharmacist yesterday who said it maybe hayfever so last night and this morning I gave her some piriton left over from when she had chicken pox about 6 weeks ago. I doesn't seem to have helped much, she was still sick last night, but I wonder if they take a while to kick in?

I read on another thread that someone recommended elderflower cordial. I did a bit of research and you can also take elderflower tea. Are either of these any good? And could I give them to my 7mo baby?
