Bright red face

My ds (4) woke up on Friday with a bright red face which looks slightly puffy and is hot to the touch. I presumed it was an allergic reaction as I had been to the docs on Thurs and got some cream for his eczema, which is all over his body and face. We gave him some piriton which brought it down a bit and have stopped using the cream on his face. The rest of his body is fine.
I am now wondering whether it is something else and it appearing at the same time as starting the cream is just a coincidence. Could it be slapped cheek? It is mostly on his cheeks, particularly in front of his ears. He is absolutely fine in himself.
Thanks for any ideas

Sounds like slapped cheek disease here
