Threadworms - after Ovex

Such a lovely topic at dinner time:)

DD said she had worms, so on Tuesday we all had Ovex as recommended by the pharmacy at Sainsbury's.

This evening, dd has been complaining again of an itchy bum, and I have just investigated, and can see the blighters crawling about - eughhhhh.

So, does this mean the Ovex hasn't worked? It says on the box that we have to wait 2 weeks to take another dose.

I don't really want dd to have to be itchy for the next 12 days or risk passing it to her sister.

Help!!!! Please!!!

Ovex will kill any live worms but not eggs

So if some eggs hatched out in between you taking med and now, that's what you're seeing I suppose

I would dose again, personally, and make sure I wash kids bums first thing in morning before anyhting and scrub nails etc etc. You've changed all bedding and damp dusted?

Boots own brand threadworm tablets miles cheaper btw

Can you tell I've experienced it a few times??

Thanks cybbo, do we all need another dose or just dd?

Changed towels, bedding and pj's, and hoovered.

I would just do her, unless anyone else complaining!

Is Ovex the powder you put in a drink? Ooo, sorry just checked it is a tablet

My daughter was prone to threadworms when she was younger. First time she got it, we all took a tablet and again 2 weeks later

Next time she had to drink the powder in squash...she threw up doing it! Then the woman in Boots told me that the powder doesn't kill the worms, just stuns them!

She told me to make sure she puts on fresh pants at bedtime, in case any eggs are on the pyjama bottoms and the usual with the hand scrubbing etc

They are horrible buggers! She could just tell when she had them, and of course, they go for a wee wander! Many a time I had to inspect and hunt for them!

the powder IS vile

Banana Ovex far more palatable
or chew a tablet

They are horrid aren't they :(

Just gave dd another dose. No-one else has complained of any issues of the bottom!

Hope this kills the b^&FKds!!
