Dd, nearly 3 yrs, keeps on licking around her mouth. Its really red and sore. Even nursery commented on it today. We have been using nivea which helps a little but doesn't get rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions on a) how to stop her licking and b)what to use to get rid of the sore patches? Thanks!

The best thing you can put on her is vaseline as it will act as a barrier against the saliva. DS does the same thing and the dr said this was the best thing to do. Saliva breaks down the skin so if you can protect it with the vaseline it should bve less sore.

As for how to stop the licking haven't figured that one out yet!

Thank you CT - will go and get some and try it in the morning. Maybe the vaseline will put her off licking too!
