I am sure you are bored of the saga of Fab's DD being in constant pain so I was wondering, can you ring NHS Direct just for advice?

You can do, but they'll just want to direct you onwards and so may recommend you see someone.

Also, with all respect to those that work for NHS Direct, their advice is pretty limited to algorithms and flow charts on a computer so advice specific to an individual's complicated history isn't really their strength. I believe from a friend that worked for them they aren't allowed to 'go off' the question lists and use their initiative and experience!

Yes, we had that when I asked the person on the phone something she said "there you go again asking me something I can't answer."
Maybe I will just have to wait another 10 days to see the GP.

Hello, out of hours you can ring your gp surgery and will automatically be put thr' to the local out of hours gp service. You can be offered advice/centre visit /home visit depending on the situation.
