Chickenpox- sickness

Is sickness normal with chickenpox? DS (4.5) has it very mildly- only about 50 spots, no fever- or not so you'd notice- and only mild itching. First spots came on Sunday, he's been off school (of course!) but hardly poorly (lucky me I know!). Then today at 4.30 he was sick and then sick again and then again. Then went to sleep at bedtime and nothing since. Is this chickenpox getting him (he's been running around) when he's tired or maybe a separate bug?

I think as long as you can get some fluids into him later on, if he's been sick, he should be OK whichever it is.

I had chicken pox when I was 11 and remember feeling very ill with it - I can't remember whether I was actually sick - but my sister aged 9 had it at the same time and had hardly a symptom, and hardly any spots! Shows how much the virus effects can vary, even between closely related people.

Hope he feels much better and less spotty very soon.

Cheers. He's got a bit less energy today and wasn't eating, but is scoffing a sandwich now, so hopefully that'll perk him up Smile. Think I'd kind of forgotten he was ill as he was behaving so normally and then maybe we overdid things.
