Baby's ear really smells and is gunky, but no pain or fever?

Smell is definitely IN the ear and not behind.

Can he have an ear infection without pain/fever. Or have I dropped a crumb in there while breastfeeding and eating? Blush

He is 4 months old btw.

DD used to get this

Bog-standard cold followed by a 'popped' ear that reeked to high Heaven and was all gungey

Never complained of it being painful though

Wallace - how did I miss you'd had a ds? Eh?

Congratulations. Smile

Sorry he's got an iffy ear though.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/04/2011 21:15

Sounds like what ds had the same sort of age, we referred to it as his funky ear.

It turned out to be otitis externa (an infection of the ear canal) and cleared up after a few days of anti-biot drops.

Go see your GP and get it checked out Smile

Ah thanks :) It really stinks doesn't it... when he s in the sling it is all I can smell and dd won't o near him...

He hasn't had a cold though - been the UNsnottiest he's ever been for the last couple of weeks.

if he has been in pain I haven't noticed (been a very hectic couple of weeks) but he is generally an extremely laid back chap.

It was an outer ear infection btw. Prescribed ear drops and all cleared up now :)
