Chickenpox without itch or being poorly?

Waiting to go to the GP in a couple of hours, but wonder whether anyone else has had it similar? My daughter has blistery spots, about 10-15 in total on body, arms and nappy area, but doesn't itch and is happy and feels well as ever.

The spots look like chicken pox, but I always thought she would feel poorly with it, or itch, while it doesn't seem to bother her at all? Is there any other explanation? Preferably one that isn't contagious?

Yes, some don't really seem to be ill with it. Dd1 was like that. But you're at early stage with it so don't count your chickens.Wink
When I had chicken pox at uni. I'd been feeling off for a couple of days and the day I woke up and thought "oh I'm better today" was the day I took my top off and saw the spots. Didn't feel worse again until day 3... and got worse from there.

yep dd had CP very mildly ,hardly any spots and quite well

is it wise to go to surgery with infectious child though?

WidowWadman · 01/04/2011 09:29

I've called them up beforehand and they told me to come in. Seperate waiting area etc

Also rather have confirmed what it is, especially as I'm pregnant (had it as a child, though) and a friend who's pregnant looked after her a few days ago and I don't know whether she's immune or not.

Plus, if it turns out that it isn't chickenpox I could send her to nursery.

is it chicken pox?

Hulababy · 01/04/2011 17:16

DD wasn't ill at all with CP and didn't have very many spots. She also wasn't particularly itchy; a dose of piriton was all that was requred.

WidowWadman · 01/04/2011 17:55

Yep, it is. She's still feeling well, but the GP says it's definitely CP. Several kids in the nursery came out with the same rash today, too.

So far no treatment required, but have a bottle of wotsits lotion at the ready just in case

When dd had chickenpox at age 3 she really wasn't unwell either. She had some spots on her body but I bathed her in bicarbonate. The worst spots were a large cluster in her hair - she now has a bald patch! Just be grateful and keep her away from pregnant friends
