How long can vomiting bug go on for?

Hi, my 10 month old has been vomiting for a week now. Sad Always in the middle of the night and about 1-2 times more through the day. I've had her to the docs twice and was told the same both times - keep breastfeeding her, give calpol for her temp and get as much fluid in her as you can. The doc told me to give her dioralyte, but after the first go she's having none of it (I don't blame her it's rank!)

Please tell me a) that it's totally normal for a bug to last this long and b) that it'll be over soon.

The rest of the time she seems ok - a bit sleepier than normal maybe but I can't help worrying myself silly over it all (can you tell she's my PFB!)

DD has just stopped after 6 days, if that helps?

Hope she gets better soon. :)

Lucozade sport is the same as dioralyte and tastes a bit better. My dd had a bug at 10 months and was ill for at least a week. They say feed them things they want but especially White carbs, apple purée and bananas. Guava juice is full of vitamin c and is quite soothing on the stomach.

DS1 had a stomach bug at eight months which lasted 10 days. He was sick two or three times a day and it went on forever. We may have had one day off half way through but then it started again. I think as they're so little their stomachs get irriated and then it doesn't take much for them to get sick again.

I remember being so worried as he literally didn't eat for 10 days although he was still taking his bottles (but chucking most of them back up it has to be said). I resorted to giving him teaspoons of canned custard Shock as it was the only thing he would eat and I thought at least he's getting something inside him.

Rest assured after 10 days his appetite came back and it was absolutely ferocious! (sp?)

My DD also stopped after 6 days, she's only having her milk and porridge. I did change her porridge a couple of days ago as wasn't sure if the milk in there was irritating her tummy and making the bug go on IYSWIM (on milk intolerance milk but she has been having dairy since weaning)

She has definately got her appetite back now so moving onto solids again tomorrow.

Hope she feels better soon!
