DD2 has pustules on her throat high temp did vomit once yesterday none today. she has been given penicillin but is struggling to have anything as crying all the time and covering her mouth due to pain of throat. what should i do. i am totally at a loss. even when she had D&V bug earlier this year she would drink water....even water makes her cry. trying yogurts which she loves but she crys out in pain after first swallow and won't take more. the Antibiotics are a strugggle too because she doesn't want anything in her mouth.

how long till antibiotics kick in. how long does tonsilitis last? any experiences appreciated, in one so young.

There is a throat spray you can give kids I gave it to my 2 year old she was so ill with tonsilitis I thought there was something awful wrong. The antibiotics should kick on soon. Keep on with the calpol. My dd was not drinking at all so I syringed water in... Good luck it will get better

Ds had tonsilitis at 12 months and it was horrible. He didn't eat for 2 weeks but the hospital werent worried about that as he was drinking - even if it wasn't much.

The antibiotics should kick in in about 48 hours.
