If this was chicken pox, would I know by now?

DS was sick a few times on Sunday night, then had a temperature all day monday, tuesday it had gone down a bit but he had diarrhoea, both of those days he mostly slept. Today temp has been on and off but almost gone, he's been sleepy and grizzly but not asleep.

I really need to get some food now. I'm a lone parent so nobody else to watch him. I think he'd be fine in the buggy while I went around the supermarket with a basket but I'm worried in case it's chicken pox and he's just not showing any 'pocks' yet. And obviously wouldn't want to take him out if it is.

So basically if he had chicken pox, after 3 days would it be extremely obvious, or is there no way to tell? There are a couple of people I could call to do some shopping for me, it's just more difficult that way.

I thought the incubation period for pox was quite a long time and it won't always be obvious. I'm sure I looked it up when I thought DD might have it and it said something about how they could just be poorly for a few days before anything would show. This says it's infectious for 2 days before the rash shows.

Any reason in particular to think it's chickenpox?

Chickenpox incubation period is 11 to 20 days from contact. Usually the rash comes out 2 to 3 days after first sign of illness. I would expect him to be producing a spot or two by now. Not all children have lots though, I know some who only had a couple in odd creases.

(meaning if it was me I'd probably go)
