Hi, since a a tummy bug with bad diarhea about 3 months ago, my DD has had soft poos between 3 and 5 times a day. I have been to the doc, who was actually very understanding and took me seriously (I was surprised!) and did a stool sample to rule out and on-going bug - this came back clear. The doc said it could be dairy intolerance - although she has been having cows milk on cereal and in food since she was six months. But she is having more now.

Doc said that if it is not causing her distress (it isn't ) then just carry on as I am - or I could try giving her a dairy free diet for 2 weeks to see if that helped.

To be honest, I would rather leave things as they are as other than having lots of dirty nappies to change things are fine - rather than start messing with her diet. She is growing fine, putting weight on etc etc and has a very good appetite.

Any one else had a similar problem? Should I be taking it more seriously?

Or is it quite normal for a little one to poo so much? I don't know!

My DS suffered from a lactose intolerance for about 6 weeks after having a tummy bug earlier in the year, which is apparently very common. I bought Lacto-Free milk and he's not a huge dairy eater anyway, so it wasn't much of a problem to remove other dairy for a few weeks. I gradually added it back in after the recommended 6 weeks and he's now fine again.
