Hi all please help fi ypou can.

Poor DD has had nappy for a week now, Sudocream did not work so have been trying metanium since sat. i can see the rash has dried out but skin still red - shoudl I keep using the metauim or switch to a more gentle cream while her skin heals? thinking of going to doc but don't really want to get a steroid cream :-(

7 months old - so rash is due to weaning i think...

Many thanks!

Rash is in all likelihood due to teething at this age. Change nappies as soon as wet or dirty and clean with water and cotton wool only then dry. Metanium usually gives improvement within 48 hours.

Not commonly thrush at 7 months, this more common in newborns.

Thanks - should I wake to change overnight? Are dry patches normal as rash clears?

I found that metanium with a layer of sudocrem on the top worked better than either of them on their own

metanium with vaseline on top (barrier) worked on dd when all else failed - and she had layers of skin peeling off her labia at that point! Good luck, poor little girl.

Bepanthen cream is fab for nappy rash, if it doesn't get better.

Zimm · 21/03/2011 19:29

Thanks all, may try the double cream thing.
