I think DD (7) has tonsillitis - should we see doctor?

She is hot, lethargic, her neck is swollen, has a sore throat etc. I can't get a good look at her tonsils, but I am dosing her with alternate Calpol/Calprofen every 3 hours and giving her lots of drinks.

Should I try and see the doctor with her tomorrow?? She's been ill for 2 days now.

Yes, because if it's bacterial, she'll need ABs.

Well I would wait a bit longer. Give it another day or two. I think majority of cases of tonsillitis in children are viral so abs wouldn't help.

Thanks. I'll see how she is tomorrow...

Minko please take your dd to the doc's. They would rather check her over and it be viral than you not to take her and her ending up needing abs.

Hope that makes sense!!

Two days is a long time to be ill when you are small, another one or two is too long when you could be taking steps to help her. Smile

Hope she is better soon.
