Don't give him any more, and contact your GP asap.

DS1 had this and is now allergic to penicillin. we have to be very very careful to ensure it is written on his medical records and that he is not prescribed it.

I would go back to Gp/out of hours and tell them what you just posted.Could be a reaction to the amoxil and they may need to prescribe something different.

ive not given him none since last nite i didnt think it was helping him get better in fact i thought it was making him worse very restless and grizzly im going to ring the gp in the morning and get some advice frm them as i dont want his chest infection to worsen but nor do i want the reaction to get worse as ive heard some terrible stories

TBH cos he is so little I would ring the out of hours today.

AnnoyingOrange · 20/03/2011 16:14

don't leave it until tomorrow, phone GP out of hours or go to A&E. Your baby may need antihistamine or steroid treatment.

angie85 · 20/03/2011 16:25

thank u for ur advice i suppose it wont do any harm to contact them it just tht 9/10 times i made to feel like im over reacting and they speak to me like im stupid but i have 2 other children so have dealt with most illnesses so i think i know a little about wat is right or not

Please don't let them make you feel stupid.Your baby is tiny and has had what sounds like an allergic reaction,AND also still needs treatment for a chest infection,so will definitely need to take you seriously and swap antibiotics, also possibly may need anti histamine like prev poster said.If they are snotty ask for their name, and how you would go about complaining about their attitude:)

tbh i agree it sounds like a reaction. My boy has a allergy to nuts and if he has anything with traces of them he gets grumpy, sneezes, swelling face and a rash so sounds very similar imo.
