DD has a about 5 small spots on her stomach, look a little bit like flea/insect bites. She's had one on her face for about 2 days, but this morning it's a little bit bigger and looks angrier as opposed to the little, pink spot it was.

She's had a mild temp yesterday and has the same today, has a bit of snotty nose but is fine in herself (currently dancing around the lounge.

The pox is going around our area but not in our preschool or toddler group yet.

Sounds like heat rash (or any other perfectly innocent rash) doesn't it?! have a job interview on Monday! Argh!

Doesn't quite sound like CP, tbh, I'd expect spots to be a lot more widespread & developing more quickly than you describe.

WorzselMummage · 19/03/2011 10:22

Could be CP, sorry,

Both of my kids were plastered in spots but my Mum said when I was a kid my Brother and I had CP at the same time.. he was plastered in it and I had one spot on my finger.

It's not always widespread and it doesn't always make kids 'ill' in the typical sense, both of mine were bouncing off the walls!

Have any of the spots turned into fluid filled blister spots? If not, I don't think it sounds like CP. Smile

LIZS · 19/03/2011 10:31

Sounds like cp to me . could noone sit with her while you go to your interview ?

KevinMcKiddsThighs · 19/03/2011 10:36

Hmm.

No one to sit with her, everyone at work, my friend is having the baby but won't take the big one if she's contagious.

Just spoke to my other friend who said she'd noticed the spots on DD yesterday but didn't mention it, I'd think they'd be bigger and more pox like by now then if it was chicken pox. Hopefully a viral thing.

When DD had it it was very quick (ie a couple of hours) between noticing the first spots then some filling with fluid and more crops breaking out. If they were there yesterday and haven't changed or spread i'd say it's not CP.

EllenJane1 · 19/03/2011 16:55

We had 3 spots on the first day, 30 on the second and over 100 on the 3rd. The first 3 spots got the biggest and were fluid filled blisters by day 3. You will definitely know one way or the other tomoz.
Mild cases can get only 3 or 4 spots.

KevinMcKiddsThighs · 19/03/2011 18:39

I don't think it's the pox, they've been fading and reappearing all day.

Phew!

good news :). Rashes are funny ol' things, though, keep an eye on it.

Both my DS & DD had somthing sounding very similar to this last week. 1st few spots on both looked like the pox were coming, then the rest were more like bites. they kept coming up very angry and red and then fading down really quite quickly. all very odd. We decided viral in the end, esp when 4 other friends had the same (2 of which have already had the pox).
